Hanninen close to securing Toyota WRC deal
Toyota test driver Juho Hanninen is "very likely" to become part of the squad's three-car lineup next year, says team boss Tommi Makinen. In 2017, Toyota will make its return to WRC for the first time since 1999 to become the fifth manufacturer of the series. The Japanese marque started testing the new-generation car earlier this year, with former ERC champion Hanninen sharing the car with team boss and four-time WRC champion Makinen. Makinen confirmed that Toyota will field three full-time entries, and strongly hinted Hanninen would be driving one of them in 2017.
